Pizza Shop
Work for a private client
The shop belongs to a neighborhood that is undergoing a rejuvenation process partly as a side effect of the economic crisis which allowed small businesses to boom.
Being limited in square footage we wanted to have a design approach where the focal point would be the preparation of food, thus showcasing the freshness of the product. Therefore the main gesture is an open kitchen that occupies most of the space allowing for the staff to operate comfortably and the processes to be made visible. People walking by can witness the story that takes place inside through large windows that frame the kitchen and open up by sliding up/down. In this manner the potential client can engage with the product not only visually but also with the sense of smell.
The reception where the client may order the food separates from the kitchen via a counter positioned in a manner that also frames a view into the kitchen. As the space was limited part of the storage was allocated to the wall to take advantage of the available height. All furnishings are customized cabinets and shelves made out of plywood that slot into metal frames. Working surfaces are of white marble while bulb lights hang from the ceiling via red cables varying in height.
